Part Number: FT9.9LEB
- ✔ The high-thrust T9.9 is specifically engineered to handle heavier loads such as sailboats, workboats, and large pontoons, making it ideal for applications where low-speed control and torque are crucial.
- ✔ Its dual-thrust design provides up to twice the thrust of comparable two-stroke engines in the 2,000 to 3,000 RPM range, ensuring strong performance during docking, maneuvering, and pushing through currents or wind.
- ✔ Backed by Yamaha’s renowned reputation for reliability and durability, the T9.9 offers consistent and efficient operation even under demanding conditions.
- ✔ Features 16-valve DOHC, electronic fuel injection, and a big bore throttle body for strong acceleration and responsiveness.
- ✔ The engine’s 2.92:1 gear ratio allows it to turn a significantly larger propeller than standard models, increasing water displacement and reducing propeller slippage for superior thrust and control.
- ✔ Yamaha’s patented Dual Thrust propeller system enhances propulsion in both forward and reverse by redirecting exhaust flow during reverse, providing precise and responsive handling in tight spaces.
212cc Two-Cylinder High Thrust – The FT9.9 utilises a torque-rich four-valve, twin-cylinder, single overhead camshaft marine engine, which delivers impressive torque from low-to-mid speed ranges, for quick response and smooth operation.

Dual Thrust Propeller – Yamaha’s large-diameter, low-pitch dual-thrust propellers are designed to give instant power in both forward and reverse, by redirecting exhaust gases way from the propeller, reducing reverse ventilation and generating more power to the water. This increases forward thrust by up to 60% and reverse thrust by up to 70%.

Fresh Water Flushing System – Simply connect a hose to the easy access connector to flush salt and dirt from the outboard without having to run the engine. Flushing the engine after each usage reduces corrosion and extends the engines life.

High-Output Alternator – A 12-Volt 6-Amp high-output alternator ensures that power is always available to start the engine, even after long periods of idling or running at low revs. This not only provides extra starting power, but delivers sufficient power to run the wide array of on-board electronic devices used in modern boating.

Genuine Yamaha Propellers – Prop choice makes a huge difference to outboard acceleration, top-end speed, handling and fuel efficiency. That is why Yamaha continues to push the technological boundaries in the design and development of our leading range of high performance props – ensuring every Yamaha outboard performs at its peak.

High Gear Ratio – The FT9.9 utilises a lower gear case design, featuring a high gear ratio of 2.92:1. The gears are specially hardened to withstand the toughest working conditions – for long-term durability.

Large Diameter Propeller – A higher gear ratio of 2.92:1 allows the FT9.9 to operate a large diameter propeller. This improved capacity enables the outboard to push greater volumes of water for increased thrust.

One-Piece Cowling – The FT9.9 features a one-piece outer cowling design, with an intake drain system to easily and efficiently drain away any water that enters the cowling during normal engine operation. Incoming air is routed through a labyrinth of passages traps and drains water before it enters the engine’s intake, for maximum reliability.

Power Tilt – Yamaha’s push-button control makes tilting the engine quick, smooth and effortless.

Prime Start – Exclusive to Yamaha, Prime Start makes starting a Yamaha outboard as easy as starting a car. It allows the engine to be started cold by automatically controlling the engine ‘warming up’ process – eliminating the need for a conventional choke. With Prime Start you no longer need to ‘warm up’ your engine by revving it in neutral.

703 Side-Mounted Control – One of Yamaha’s best selling controls, this mechanical remote offers comfort, simplicity and flexibility. With its new ergonomic grip, reversible right-hand or left-hand installation, and convenient trim and tilt operation, this control offers all-round functionality and value.

Alloy White Dual Thrust Series – Designed for sailboats and other large displacement craft, Yamaha’s dual thrust props are built to push heavy loads through the water. The hub is carefully designed to redirect exhaust flow away from the blades, cutting through clean water for higher efficiency and better acceleration.

Yamaha Outboard Tech – Yamaha offers a range of rigging options to suit every boat. Check out the full suite of controls, gauges, switches, props and other technologies, plus outboard performance data.

Anti-Corrosion – 5 Stage Paint System – Yamaha engines are known for their durability and high re-sale value. Part of this lies in the anti-corrosion protection. A unique YDC-30 aluminium alloy protects the engine’s exterior parts, while a zinc coating, high-quality stainless steel components and 5-stage exterior paint coating, offers long-lasting protection – inside and out.
